In May 2025, we brought 40 biohackers to Ibiza for four days of breathwork, cold exposure, longevity science, sound healing, and Mediterranean movement. This is the case study from what happened.

Four days. Forty biohackers. One private property on the south-west coast of Ibiza with a direct view of Es Vedrà. May 16 to 19, 2025, the first full-format Biohacking Academy retreat. This is what we ran, who showed up, and what the cohort took home.

The setting

UNIO Hotel in Cala Carbó. A finca-style property with sea-view restaurant, private pool, yoga shala, sauna, garden space, and direct beach access. We booked the entire hotel for the four days so the cohort had the property to itself. The choice was deliberate. Mediterranean climate, ocean access, and the Es Vedrà energetic field were treated as part of the programme, not the backdrop to it.

The programme

Three full days structured around the physiology of performance and recovery.

Mornings: activation. Breath capacity work and the Wim Hof Method workshop, science breakdown plus the ice bath, led by certified Wim Hof Method instructor Rafael Dunajski.

Midday: integration. Sea-view meals built from Mediterranean ingredients and biohacker-friendly preparation. Open afternoons for rest, ocean, and conversation.

Afternoons and evenings: workshops and lectures. Power of Biohacking with Bojan. NeuroVIZR brain stimulation demo and protocol design. Axiom H2 session on molecular hydrogen and cellular optimisation with Ivona Kližin. Stixits biomechanics and functional movement with Ralph Wentz and Leon Hörburger. A full Saturday sunset experience built into the schedule, followed by a Spanish-guitar dinner.

Sunday: the integration day. Longevity talks on nutrition, supplementation, and molecular hydrogen water in the morning. Beach session with Stixits at midday. Sound healing session with Jkson in the late afternoon. Cacao ceremony with Jkson and Mama Cacao at sunset. Creative dinner. Ecstatic fire experience by the pool to close.

Monday morning: energising breakfast, group integration circle, departure.

The faculty

Bojan Matic, Founder of Biohacking Academy. Led the biohacking principles, longevity, nutrition, supplementation, and NeuroVIZR sessions.

Rafael Dunajski, Certified Wim Hof Method instructor based in Cologne. Ran the breath capacity warm-up, the full WHM workshop, and the ice bath protocol.

Ivona Kližin, Hydrogen therapy lead at Axiom H2. Presented the molecular hydrogen science and the cellular optimisation protocol with inhalation hardware on-site.

Ralph Wentz and Leon Hörburger, Sport and training scientists, founders of Stixits. Led the functional movement and biomechanics work, integrated across the beach day and the gym sessions.

Jkson, Multi-instrumentalist sound healing facilitator from Zurich. Ran the Ibiza-vibes sound healing session and the cacao ceremony with Mama Cacao.

Melda Cinar, Co-organiser and host. Ran the local operations and the participant experience end-to-end.

What participants said

The cohort came from across Europe and beyond. The two themes that came back consistently in post-retreat feedback were the depth of the connections formed and the lasting shift in how participants thought about daily protocols.

Ralph Wentz, who joined as a Stixits coach, put it this way:

It was not only about biohacking, it was about making relations. The most foremost thing that relates to health in a longevity parameter is social health, social connections. This was exactly what this was about.

Leon Hörburger arrived expecting a science-heavy weekend:

When I got here I thought it would be a bit more about the scientific biohacking side, but this mixture of beautiful people and ceremonial stuff like the cacao ceremony really changed my mind. It was planned perfectly, the food was one of the best foods I've ever eaten in my life, and everything that happened in the last three days with all of the people around me really changed my mind.

Gorjan from the UAE summarised the cohort dynamic:

I came here without many expectations and what I got here was incredible. I got family, I got friends. I got energy and love. One incredible experience that will stay a long time in my mind and in my heart.

L'Officiel Ibiza covered the retreat and wrote:

Biohacking retreat is delivering the perfect formula for transformation, wellness, and peak performance. This is exactly what Ibiza has been waiting for.

The numbers

40 participants. 4 days. 10+ workshops and sessions. 5-star average rating across post-retreat feedback. Six confirmed alumni already on the waitlist for the next round before the Ibiza retreat had concluded.

What we took forward

Three lessons from Ibiza shaped what comes next.

The first: format is a multiplier. Four days of curated structure delivers what four weeks of newsletter content cannot. Daily repetition of the protocols inside a contained environment compresses learning that would otherwise take months.

The second: the environment is part of the protocol. Sea, sun, the Es Vedrà field, the sustained removal from urban stressors. Ibiza confirmed what we had hypothesised about location-as-intervention. The same logic shapes how we are building the Egypt retreat and informs the structure of the online academy and one-on-one mentoring programs.

The third: the right cohort is the product. Curating for a specific calibre of participant, then trusting the group dynamic, produced outcomes the structured sessions alone never would. That selection bar is now baseline for every subsequent retreat.

Ibiza confirmed the design. The next chapter pushes it into harder environments. See the upcoming retreats for what's next.
